So, I have been using my Sony camera for many years; actually, since I started making videos on my channel in 2015. Up to this point, I have been using my Sony 16 to 35 mm f4 lens with my new A9 body. And to be honest, I had no complaints. But there was definitely room to improve, but overall it was a great experience. Here is my Sony FE 24mm F1.4 GM Review. There is just something about prime lenses that make me feel great about what I am doing, and my 16 to 35mm was not giving it to me. Fast forward four years, and now in 2020, I am finally getting my second prime lens. The first one was my 100mm, and now I got this beautiful 24mm So without wasting any more time, let's get in-depth with what I love about it, what I hate about it, and what I wished it had. Main Plot First of all, what I love about this lens, and I think many of you can agree on this is how small and compact this lens is. It is about 200 grams lighter than any other 24mm on the market. And to me, this is just a game-changer, regardless if I am shooting indoors in my office or taking it out in the street or shooting portraits at a bbq this is just great. This just fits in my bag easily, and I can carry 2 or 3 extra lenses with me without any problem. This lens actually delivers what we were promised with mirrorless cameras: a superior optics that is smaller and lighter than DSLR or rangefinder lenses while costing less! Now on top of how small it is, you get that great bouquet with amazing low light performance. Giving me the flexibility to shoot in any situation. Because that f1.4 truly opens the door for me to shoot in any situation without worrying about light, letting me use faster shutter speed and lower iso. For Me To me, that is a big advantage. So if you are a night shooter or like to set up your studio and control your light without going crazy with the light, then this is just what you need. Also, if you enjoy astrophotography, then look no more. Because with this lens, you can truly take advantage of your sene and dial your shutter speed, ISO, and aperture to your liking. My use I have personally used this lens in many situations, and I was amazed at what is can accomplish with this small package. Now finally, the last thing that I love about this lens that I think elevates it to a new level for me is its fast focus speed making my life so much easier. So when I am making my video, go traveling, visit family, or even camping, this is what I take with me. This is truly the world's best-24mm lens in terms of its sharpness, Bokeh, weight, price, and so much more. So if you are considering a 24mm for your full-frame camera, this may just be what you need. Not only its better than any other 24mm f/1.4 lens, but it's also the least expensive Sony E-mount FE 24mm F1.4 GM Full Frame Wide-angle Prime Lens (SEL24F14GM), Black Now what is not good about this lens Well first, its the price, yes compare to other lenses out in its class, it is actually very well priced, but it is still 1500 dollars after taxes, and that is **hard**. Making it one of the most expensive lenses that I own. But if you are working with your camera like I am, that could be a huge investment on its own and easily pay for itself. Now in terms of its versatility, yes, I don't have the range of my 16-35 mm lens, and that could be a bit hard at times, making me relearn how I take pictures—forcing me to move in order to capture my subjects instead of just zooming onto my subject. And if you are in the city and are looking to capture the entire downtown, this may fall a bit short since it is not that wide being only 24. But you can easily turn your camera into an APD-C mode that can help you reach further, or you can just crop your pictures in post. Especially with today's cameras, that should not be a problem giving me the versatility that I need without running a zoom lens. Finally the subject of Zoom or prime Now is my 16-35mm or any other zoom lens better than this 24mm prime lens. Well, that just depends on you and how you are with your setup. Personally, I do not have any problem with carrying 2 or 3 lenses when I am at a scene but if you are on a budget and are looking to only carry one lens then go with something more versatile but if you have the money to invest this can make a huge difference in your work. So if you are looking to get something that lets you move and be different without taking to much space or if you are especially looking to upgrade your YouTube videos, then this lens is just right for you. What I think Now I really would like to know if you have this lens and if you have used it before. What do you think about it? Do you think it is worth the price that Sony is asking for? Drop your comments below and tell me what you think of it. And honestly, if I could recommend only two lenses to you, I would say go with a 24mm and an 85mm lens, and you would be set for life. Now that we have talked about it, just go out and shoot, do something that moves you and your audience. I love you all, and I think you can make a change, all it takes is taking that first step. As always, thank you for watching, and if you liked it and took some value out of this video, make sure to hit that like button and subscribe.
