How To Create A System Restore Point On Windows 10 in 2018

1. Open System Restore

Search system restores in your Windows 10 Search box then select Create a restore point in the list results. When you see System Properties dialog box, click on System Protection tab and next click on Configure button.

2. Enable System Restore

Click on enable Turn in system protection and next use the Max Usage slider to decide how much of your hard drive is being used. Usually, a system Restore Points needs 5% to 10 %. If you need to create a Restore Point manually return to this dialog box and click the Create button, if not the Windows 10 will create them for you.

3. Restore your PC

Whenever you like to return to a Restore Point, open the System Properties dialog box, click the System Protection tab, then click the System Restore button. Follow on-screen instructions and select desired Restore Point when asked. You can further click the Scan for affected programs button before going also.

If System Restore does not work then

Some severe Windows problems may prevent you from rewinding to Restore Point with your System Restore, but all may not be lost. All you have to do is to start Windows 10 in the Safe Mode. This barebones Windows mode runs the essential parts of Windows, that means any problematic driver, apps or settings will be disabled. After this System Restore will then will be successful.

1. Open Advanced startup

Go to Start > Settings > Update & security > Recovery and click Restart now below Advanced start-up.

2. Start System Restore in Safe Mode

Windows will then restart and display a Choose an option menu. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore and use System Restore in the usual way.

Recovering from any more serious problems

System Restore point will not always rescue PC from severe problems. However, Windows 10 has an extra trick up its sleeve. It also can restore your Windows to factory state without affecting any of your documents. Although everything including apps will be are removed. Even, you should make sure that you have a back up of all your necessary files.

1. Open your Reset this PC

Next, Go to Start > Settings > then Update & security > Recovery and finally click the Get started below the Reset this PC.

2. Reset your Windows 10, but make sure to save your files

On next screen, click the Keep my records and then follow the on-screen instruction to reset your Windows 10. You should see a list of the apps that will be removed and also be asked to confirm all your choice.

3. Reset your PC to the Safe Mode

With System Restore, some Windows 10 issues can prevent your PC from working. However, you can also run your PC from Safe Mode to bypass these.

Follow the Step 1 under If System Restore does not work above, but instead choose Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > Keep my files under Step 2.
