Unboxing and Review of the Amazon Echo Show

When the Amazon Echo Show first arrived in May 2017, I made a video on it called amazon echo show unboxing and I loved it. I have to admit that I was both excited and doubtful. My primary concern what that, how would be adding a screen to a product whose primary job for existing was audio or voice assistance, and voice recognition would work? It did not make that much sense to me at the time. Also, the somewhat blocky look of the Amazon Echo Show didn’t help. I was thinking to myself that was Amazon about to take a step backward?

What I think

However, after seeing the Echo Show for a few months, I can confirm that there are no worries. I am in love. This product is just fantastic. The Echo Show might look a bit different, and the screen might not make absolutely any logical sense. But I think that the Amazon Echo Show brings an extra dimension to the Echo family.

Amazon Echo Show and what you need to know

So what do you think the Amazon Echo Show is all about? Well, there is nothing too complicated here. The Amazon Echo Show is every bit an Echo speaker, but with so much more futures. Echo Show offers a 7in, 1,024 x 600 touchscreen that is smooth and clean. Ans it is perfectly slapped to the front of the device. And the speakers are absolutely fantastic.

A 5-megapixel webcam above it also joins that screen. Giving it a few extra tricks. and it lets you have a hands-free video call and make video chats to and from other Alexa-enabled devices. And that’s not all. The screen also gives you the ability to get feeds from your home security cameras. And can show you visual info, such as news, podcast, music lyrics and much more.

Amazon Echo Show price

The Echo Show is one of the most expensive smart speakers that Amazon currently has. It costs around $225, which is $100 more expensive than the average Amazon Echo. But, during Amazon Prime day you can get it for as low as $125.

Amazon Echo Show review for the design and its critical features

The one thing many people seem to agree on is that the Amazon Echo Show is not pretty. With its Big front panel, chiseled edges and s boxy look. But, I think that if you give it a bit time, you will see that the product does not look that bad. The Echo Sho is an excellent looking device that can make any room come to life.

Also, the screen of the Show looks very lovely. It is very bright, and it offers a bright and sharp image at 1,024 x 600 there is nothing wrong with it. Viewing angles are not bad as well. The video quality of it is excellent and can give you so much enjoyment.

The Camera

There’s also a 5-megapixel webcam above the screen. This camera can deliver good detail for all your video chat. If you ask me, I think it kind of looks like your average phone quality. Finally, on the top of the Show, there are three buttons, used to mute the microphones and to adjust the volume. The grille below the screen gives room to the Show’s twin 2in speaker drivers.

Unfortunately, just like the rest of the Echo family, the Amazon Echo Show does not have any built-in battery. But if there is no power, usually there is no WiFi. So yea.

Remember

The Amazon Echo Show does all the things a regular Echo can do. But its touchscreen adds so much more possibility that once you have it, you are in love. The extra information makes the whole experience more accessible and pleasurable. If you ask me Amazon’s best and most accessible virtual assistance to this date. And that’s enough for me.

I have not had it very long. It’s my first Alexa thing. I sure like what I have done with it so far there is a lot to learn and play with

Having the large screen really makes this an enjoyable experience. Only thing it’s missing is YouTube.

Completely agree, YouTube would be nice. But you could still ask her questions, and in reply, she would play YouTube video. Such as “Alexa show me how to bake a cake.”

We’ve had the original Echo for quite some time and just recently added the Show. It was simple to setup and more inviting to use with the visual interface. The Echo is being used as the primary interface for my connected home system which is currently only controlling lights and switches. I look forward to expanding on that capability. We also use it for maintaining lists, as a music player, general information, and entertainment. I haven’t used the Show to shuffle through our favorite photographs but will start that soon.
